Birthmark is excited to announce our new series of childbirth education classes!  Birthmark Doula Collective values evidence-based care and we honor all birth plans.  Our classes are small, participant-directed and fun!  Whether you’re planning to deliver at home or in the hospital, it’s our job to provide you with the information & skills you need to prepare for the birth you want.  And maybe even make a few new parent friends along the way.  

Classes are held on alternating Saturdays, 10am to 1pm at the New Orleans Breastfeeding Center.  For your convenience, you can register for just one or two of our workshops or register for all three at a discount.  A single workshop registration is $95, to register for all three is $225.  Partners & support people are welcome and their attendance is included in your registration fee.  All Birthmark classes & services are offered on a sliding-scale.  Please check out our payment options for more info and register soon.  Space is limited.  Click the links below each class to register or email

Belly Talks — May 4, June 1, July 6, Aug 3, Sept 7, Oct 5 Everything you need to know to make a baby!  This workshop covers basic anatomy & physiology of pregnancy & birth, how to choose a provider & exercising informed consent, common medical interventions for all types of birth plans, how to write your birth preferences and the pace and pattern of normal birth.  A great way to get up to speed in a hurry! Comfort Measures — May 11, June 8, July 13, Aug 10, Sept 14, Oct 19 A class for families who are interested in an unmedicated birth experience with a focus on comfort measures & coping skills, creating a supportive birth team and hands-on practice of positions & movement for labor & birth.  This class moves!  Please dress comfortably. SIGN UP HERE

After Birth: Nourishing the Brain, Breast, Belly, Bottom and Baby — May 18, June 15, July 20, Aug 17, Sept 21, Oct 19 The postpartum period after a baby is born is a crucial time of rest, recovery and rebirth for the entire family. Together we will focus on what to expect as you enter new life as a parent, and how to create sustainability through preparation, healing, wellness and support from your village.  An essential class for all families who are planning to breastfeed. SIGN UP HERE

Café au Lait: Breastfeeding Circle for Families of Color— Cosponsored by Birthmark Doula Collective, Nurse Nikki and New Orleans Breastfeeding Center: Our mission is to improve breastfeeding outcomes by providing a culturally appropriate space to gather and provide peer support. Grand Rounds—Cosponsored by Birthmark Doula Collective, Nurse Nikki and New Orleans Breastfeeding Center: "Grand Rounds" are an important teaching tool and tradition in medical education. Our Grand Rounds is a quarterly meeting of breastfeeding supporters to review and learn from real-life lactation case studies. This is a free education opportunity for anyone who provides breastfeeding support including OBs, CNMs, pediatricians, IBCLCs, CLCs, WIC counselors, support group facilitators, and peer counselors.
